Discovery Life Expectancy
I am basing my miles on several people who were on here and what I have seen and read in magazines and talking to owners.
Remeber the guy awhile back who wanted to destroy his '94? It had 290,000+ miles on it and he bought it brand new and it had never had anything major done to it.
Another guy maybe a year ago had a '95? with 320,000 miles on it when it blew the front diff, that was his biggest problem with it.
When i was in the market I found a '96 with 250,000 miles on it, I almost bought it but it was in Maine.
So I guess its only the DI's that last forever?
EDIT: my '97 has 180,000 miles and she runs like a top, no noises, nothing, starts right up each and every time.
I would drive my truck to the North Pole today if somebody wanted to buy my gas.

The biggest thing now is the oil,,,,,most oil now has less zinc in it and our push rod motors need that to keep the cam and lifters going.
The zinc would harm the Cat's.
On older Diesels there are no Cat's so most 15w40 oil has more zinc.

AMSOIL 10w40,,,,
read the back. reads that it is formulated for use on flat tappet engines,,, like ours
