Hi,
Your 1994 D1 will self bleed. I had a 1997.
All you do is keep the coolant bottle 1/2 full all the time and drive it.

When I bleed my 1997, I think I drove it around the neighborhood slowly - 30 to 40 MPH and I pulled over and added coolant about 3 to 4 times.

The water fall sounds goes away after this.

If days and days go by, many miles and you still have the water fall sound then head gasket time.

Our 1997 needed head gaskets at 133,000 miles or so.

I was pretty flipped out.
But it went OK.

Our 1997 went then from 133,000 miles to about 165,000 and then we sold it in March 2013. Probably is still going fine in San Jose, CA where the buyer lives.

is how to change the head gaskets on a D1.

With heat core bypassed, you won't hear the waterfall.

Well this is what was wrong apparently, i flushed the radiator before using liquid based flushing, well, it wasn't enough, i took it to a guy and they flushed it deeply using the right method, my disco just resurrected, don't trust liquid flushing, it helps but not much. I'll be driving it for a while and will give you updates, i love my discovery.

Did they remove the radiator and unsolder a side tank and rod out the calcium, or just use a hot citric acid flsuh?

Final good news, the flushing worked as a charm, yes it was an open heart surgery to the radiator, not the citric stuff, i did that before and didn't help much. Thanks guys for sharing my joy.
