Unhappy Discovey 1 trouble, leaking coolant

Hi there!! I'm posting this for a friend.. The weether was around 15* with only water on the radiator, He crank the engine early in the morning and now the right side of the engine is leaking water, betwen the head and engine block. What's the problem here? crack head or block? or just the head gasket? this a 98 disco 1 with 100.000 miles

Probably a head gasket, he did not overheat it and drive it correct?

Ah I thought that is what you meant but the title says coolant. Maybe he popped a freeze plug. That would be a best case scenario. But if he is seeing water coming from the head gasket area well that is not good, he is going to have to tear it down and see the damage.
