Default Diso II Rack through car wash?

Can you run a disco II through a car wash (with brushes) with the full size steel rack mounted on top?

I don't know if you can run it thru a car wash with brushes but i wouldn't. Car washes with brushes have a high rate of scratching your vehicle. I would use a brushless car wash regardless of the roof rack.

Doesn't sounds like a good idea to me either, I can just see things getting tangled up....take it to a DIY place if you don't have a place to do it at home.

All the other good reasons not to run your D2 w/rack through a car wash aside, I'd be surprised if you found a car wash that would let you even try.

They need to consider the potential damage to their equipment and that includes the cloth/foam rotary wheels that "clean" the car (or beat the dirt into your paint it falls off). If you see an actual brush, I sure hope you don't let it anywhere near your paint. Anyway, a good car wash will have several sets of these cloth/foam 'brushes' and will change them out on a regular basis to have them cleaned. They won't want them getting destroyed by your rack anymore than you want your truck getting damaged.

My recommendation: If you're going to wash the truck, then get a bucket, soap, water, and some nice clean towels. Do it yourself. Don't neglect the roof...get a ladder and wax it...your paint will thank you.

You'll be amazed at what kind of things you notice about the truck when you're looking close enough to be getting it really clean.

I've been told by a car wash nearby that they'll send my DII with a full roof rack and lights through the wash, but they program it so the hood and roof wheels stay up. I haven't tried it yet, but do need to find something that'll work in the dead-of-winter when it's too cold to do my normal handwash. On my other cars I usually wash them every week in the winter, mainly for the 'bottom blast' to remove the road salt.

2 words......hand wash. Best way to keep your paint in great condition. Avoid places with brushes like the plague.
