Default tent

That tent must be hell on your fuel economy.

Good luck on your trip, very brave of you.

I plan on taking this rover from Canada to South America and back this spring.

Ok, as per your questions:

1. The mountains on the side are inspired from the modern Expedition model of the Land Rover Discovery. They were made by myself using a Carbon Fibre sticker that I bought at Canadian Tire for $14.

2. Yes, I MIG welded it. Since it's square steel tubing, it is extremely easy to weld. Any cheap-o welder will do a beautiful job. I weigh 220 lbs and I walk on my platform without any sag.

tents still eat fuel mileage when closed, considerably.

Default Tent

lol. Ok, so now you're really making this Canuckian laugh. I for real can't tell if you're serious or just pulling my leg.

The tent gets put inside the trunk of the Land Rover, the gas tanks and gear go on the roof racks. They switch spots at night. In theory anyways, we'll see how it plays out this Spring. Here are some pics from my trip last winter/spring... Toronto(ish) to San Diego, California and back.

Hello Jean:

Nice job!

I'm in Mexico too (but working hehe).

I have a 2004 disco II like yours. Could you send me the plans to my email?

Best regards

I hope that the plans attached to this post in .pdf format is of sufficient quality to make it worth the wait. Please let me know if you are having a hard time downloading it. I have a second copy on FTP elsewhere.

Jean the plans look great! Thank you very much. I may give this a go. I'll just need to shorten it a bit as I just want a rack over the rear raised portion of the roof.
