Do you all have collision on your auto insurance?
Mine has been a $1000 deductible for years and was just poking around to find some savings and it was recommended to drop collision on the Disco entirely. Was curious to hear any perspectives here.
I have not carried collision for years with the calculus being they are easily replaceable for about the cost of the insurance deductible. Did have progressive pay me $12k for my truck with 247k on it (it was mint) when their insured pulled right out in front of me too late to miss.
Not on the Disco. Same reasoning as above. Same goes for the 2008 X5 and the 2009 Sonata. But the 2011 Suburban and my wifes 2015 GLK we still carry collision. Once a year I revisit those two and evaluate the cost of the premium, the deductible and the replacement cost of the vehicle.
I do have collision with Travelers Ins. $500 deductible. Have used it once, about 13 years ago, pulling trees out with the 10K winch, chain snapped, put the ****** block through the windshield on the passenger's side after bouncing it off the hood. Had to argue a bit with the adjuster, he was going to total it w/o seeing the truck. After seeing it, he approved the repair. All good and I plan on keeping the collision coverage.
I got collision and comprehensive on mine, it's probably not necessary but I carry full coverage on all my cars here in British Columbia $300 deductible. Comprehensive paid out for a new genuine set of catalytic converters a few years ago after they were stolen so that was well worth it.
