I have a STI wires waiting to be installed and also did not decide on plugs. Amazon has a good deal on Bosch Platinum IR fusion, which doesn't need any gapping and I am considering getting them. I don't know how good or bad they are for our rovers. locally i can only get the autolite double platinum (2pks around $8 at walmart). I am thinking bosch platinum IR might be better.

If you like Bosch, and I do, buy the Plus 4's, they work better in our engines then the Fusions.

Did you have secondary air on yours? If so did you have to replace the air injector adapters in the heads? I am getting ready for the head gasket job myself and just want to have all the parts. If anyone knows that would be great! Sorry for hijacking your thread for this

I know mike has been advocating for Bosch +4 and he has good experience with them, but I have been reading very mixed reviews. The Bosch fusion IR are actually exactly the same design expect for some added iridium, which is suppose to be better than platinum. MSRP on fusion IR is more than +4 and amazon have them around 4.30 cheaper than the MSRP, so I went ahead and ordered 8 of them. I hope I will not regret it.

Note: To release the adapter thread locking

loosening then tightening slightly.
so there needs to be high temp thread locker reapplied to the adapters before install.

Did you have to remove those to get the heads off? If so, did they come off pretty easy?

Wow, you did get all the gunk out, everything looks so much cleaner. Some body had pictures of the inside at around 170k or so here, who has been using mixture of rotella and castrol and his engine was like new. You might want to give it this treatment from now on.

Hi Jared,
Do You have any picture that will show the entire front of the engine?
