The more I think about it the Crank will still be supported by the transmission being connected via the fly wheel correct? Should be interesting pushing that upper bearing out. Let me know how easy it is please.
Another set of hands sure does help and with a nice stock of Snap-On's are job is much easier.

Excellent point on being connected to the transmission! That is, of course, assuming that my flexplate is still in one piece, ha.
I'll definitely report back on the difficulty in walking the upper shell out. If I do it, that is. Con rod bearings are definitely being replaced. Still on the fence about the mains. It'll depend what the plastigauge tells me and how they look.

I just had my 03' engine out and cheaped out and did not replace the bearings. They had plenty of babbit left so I didn't think they were driving my crappy oil pressure rather the finding of my oil pump being crack was what I attributed the oil pressure to. If you don't already have the bearings Car Parts Discount had some great pricing on the bearings.
