Default Dreaded amigos

Had my disco over a year and never had lights pop up on the dash before ,nearly home from a sixty mile trip yesterday and took a corner a bit quick and had the lights come on ,all three and hill descent control

stopped and started again and they were gone

today I go to the jet wash to clean her and on way back went over a mini roundabout lump and they came on again ,went out on restart tho

I e had a look at all the abs sensors and all are fitted well and no looseness etc ,any ideas please

and has anybody got a nanocom in Suffolk that they can have a scan for codes for me with please

thanks in advance

Default Amigos!

I'm about 3 months into owning my 01 Disco2. Acquired the truck on BaT runs great (1 owner western owned 66K miles) and put about 6k worth of fluid change, new tires (Firestone destinations), ball joints and some other consumables.

The amigos in my truck come on sometimes at the start and sometimes just at random. I can feel the ABS working fine on the ice (we're in CT) and the traction control has been fine. The local garage thinks its the ABS module??

I suspect that the amigos trip is from the airbags as after a cold night (-15c) the back was significantly lower than the front though firing up the car leveled up just fine and no immediate leak sounds.

Any thoughts would be appreciated as very new to the delicate disco dance.

You don't need a Nanocom to read the codes. A number of different devices will pull them. Try going to an auto parts store to see if they have a decent one they will let you use.

Mine used to come on for all sorts of weird reasons. Fill the tank up, they'd go away. Too fast around a sharp corner, on they came. Hit a big bump, suddenly they were off for a few minutes. I assumed it was the option B fix (I knew the ABS codes were shuttle valve-related) so I took my shuttle valve assembly off and the wires were disintegrating inside. I redid the wiring, did the option B fix in the process and now it seems good to go. It has been ~ a month since I did this and probably 500 miles, several tanks of gas, and no ABS codes to speak of. Try to get the ABS codes read (I have a Foxwell NT510 Elite) and if it is coming up with shuttle valve issues I'd bet that is the issue. Still, go through the checks just in case.

Your hub is mostly likely failing. My three amigos journey started by hitting a bad pothole on the highway. Once the hub was replaced, all was well. I'm guessing there's a P1590 code logged in the system (rough road signal implausible) that'll corroborate this.

P1590 can be triggered by a lot of issues -- it's not a confirmation of a hub problem. A code reader that can access the SLABS system will give you more specific details, including which hub or sensor is the problem (if that's where the problem lies).

Agreed, sorry, didn't mean to imply that 1590 is the silver bullet that equates to a bad hub.
