Default Driveshaft Question

I am replacing my driveshaft as part of the checklist of items to address according to the sticky thread. I bought my truck used and it now has 83,000 miles on it (I assume that the shaft on the truck now is the original). Everything seems to be working ok with it but I was just curious as to what might be some symptoms of a worn shaft or one that might be failing. I have a few quirky things going on that could be shaft related but I am not sure if it is a driveshaft issue or not.

Any comments welcome.
Thanks

Do not wait for a sympton, which would be a failure possibly taking out the tranny. Go inspect the 3 u-joints on the front shaft, they must all have a grease fitting, if only one does you are driving a truck that can fail at any time. By the way, how often do you grease your drive shafts?

Symptoms are squeaking/chirping and/or vibration.
Even if you aren't going to rebuild it, read the Propshaft Rebuild sticky.

Mike, I am replacing my drive shaft this Wed. Mine is not giving me a problem but I am taking your advice and I am replacing it (with one I purchased at Great Basin).
Their advice is to grease it every 3000 miles.

Yes, every oil change. And make sure you do it correctly.
