Default Dumb question about spare tire carrier...

Does the spare naturally sit further away from the door on the hinge side versus the side near the ladder? Nothing looks bent to me, and I never noticed this for years. The hinge side has about 4 inches from the center back of the spare to the door and the ladder side has like 2 inches or so. Weird.

No, it is pretty even usually. Something's up.

just took mine off yesterday to add one for larger tire, it’s even on both sides.

note: if you try to take it off, remove the inside panel or you might lose the nuts inside the door.. ask me how I know… why they’re not fixed, I’ll never know.

Very strange. Nothing looks bent at all. The one side definitely sits further out. I have an adapter for a larger tire setup. Maybe it wasn't machined square. Oh well.

Or maybe the studs are getting tight before the wheel is square to the carrier/truck. I would think this would leave the wheel sloppy and you'd have other problems but since these are lugs-centric studs it could be binding and locking up tight early.

I'll check that out. Could be. I really don't care as it is solid as can be. It's just strange I never noticed it before.
