Default Electric folding mirrors

I have electric folding mirrors on my D2 ES7 but they have always suffered from having a 'mind of their own'. I did get the LR main dealer to look into it many years ago when under warranty but their useful comment was "many suffer this problem it's a software issue" ............ hmmmm, really helpful right ........... but no solutions. Does anyone have these problems and have they ever been fixed.

Problem: Press the button down to close them and they close but open again and vice versa. They do work properly about 1:5 or 1:10 times. Anyone suffer the same issues?

Probably wont get much feedback here since most members are from the US and the the folding mirrors were not avail in the US.

Your mirrors could be hitting a fault when folding and then going back the other way.
Maybe take them apart and make sure all is lubricated well.

Or the ignition key has a "bounce" when you turn the key off.
Meaning there may be a spat of current applied for a micro second which reverses the mirror back as it sees an ON.

When the mirror sees an "ON" it will then carry out it's order to unfold or fold.
Even if the "on" is just a microsecond.

What I would do.....

Get your Rover key.
Take off ALL the keys from the key ring..

Just use the single rover key. No key chain.
No extra weight on it.

and see how it goes.

Then the guts of the ignition don't giggle around.

Here is what I would do...

1) Remove the mirrors

2) Place in Shipping box with proper international packaging

3) Send to me home address

4) Wait for non folding mirrors to arrive from me

5) Send me a yearly email asking me how the mirror repair is going

6) Hold your breath for a response.

7) Read my post on retro fitting folding mirrors on a NAS D2

Hmmm, brill idea

What I can't get my head around is my D2 is an NAS spec originally destined for Patagonia, it's LHD so why doesn't the US spec D2's have folding mirrors which do come in useful from time to time.
