Question Electrical hiccup ?

The police stopped me at night; said there were no lights at all at the rear.

But they were all on and working perfect when I got out of the car in presence of the officer. Got a warning.
Later, parking at home, removed the key, got out and the radio came on.
There is no electrical modifications in the car.

Any clues ?

Sorry, couldn't resist

Haven't any helpful answers but I'll think on it. It might help to disconnect the battery and have a beer or coffee and then reconnect it but make sure you have the radio code to hand first. The electrics on mine do quirky things sometimes for no apparent reason.

There's another thread talking about electrical gremlins, and it appears the Ignition Switch might be the culprit.

That's interesting SS. Two or three times I've stopped close to a strong EMF source or radio/microwave sources and had problems. The first was in a hospital outside the radiography suite, I couldn't even unlock the truck on the fob and then at 01.00 finally the tow truck arrived and accessed the truck and moved it 300 metres and it started ok, the tow truck guy said they get a few calls there every year for the self same problem. The second in a Bricolage depot and I think it was either EMF or my mobile phone as it started and cut out so we got out locked the truck, switched off the mobile and then opened it again and hey presto it started. And the third was another similar occasion. Makes one wonder whether the BCU/ECU's are susceptible to either EMF or radio/microwave signals and get all screwed up temporarily.
