Fuse boxes do go bad on older D2, but I'd look at the crank sensor first.

Would the fuse box prevent the vehicle from turning on?

If the fuse box connections on the back are toast, then yes. Time for breaking out the RAVE.

Alright, new one is on the way, hopefully it will resolve the issue.

On a side note is there lots of soldering involved or is it a plug and play type unit?

Please see attached. Be sure every nut and spacer goes back on exactly like it came off or it still won't crank. Plug in and let it hang down to remount. Just a plug in connctor, no soldering.

Uh, ok theres 2 issues with the rover, based off what I can see and the check engine codes, I think its the crank sensor, but the dealership thinks it's the fuse box.

The fuse box can have all sorts of electrical gremlins lurking. It has relays and such built in, so it is part "module" as well. Also built to plug in a replacement.

I would replace the alternator.
It may be overcharging.
I bet your battery is fried from overcharge and I would replace the alternator and the battery.

actually I would do this:

1) Pull terminals from batter and clean them.
2) Replace the battery.
3) Replace the alternator.
3a) Check air conditioning compressor connection. Put an ohm meter across A/C clutch and check for low resistance or short.
4) Clear the codes.
5) run and check for new codes.

Your codes are:

Engine Code: p1536

Land Rover Engine Code: P1536 = Air conditioning compressor request range/performance ATC compressor clutch relay open circuit.

Engine Code: p0560

Land Rover Engine Code: P0560 = System Voltage Malfunction

Whoa
Actually, you need to find and test the air conditioning clutch relay..
Looks like the ECU thinks the relay is open or shorted.

Where is the AC clutch relay ? The used fuse block is in the mail but I guess I can wait to install it until I know that everything is ok.
