Default Electrical mystery..

Well, not a mystery..its a POS so what can i say. My daughters 2000 DII battery is going dead after a couple days . Had battery replaced twice in the last month. Had alternator checked and is charging. Looks like it had already been changed as it looks new. Is a boshe. Had draw test done and nothing out of ordinary is drawing only alarm. even with alarm unarmed, still goes dead. If i jump after 5 minutes at idel, battery is charged enough to start so i know alternator is working fine. It left overnight, needs jump. Only thing changed before this started to happen is had starter rebuilt. Starter works fine. Could that cause battery drain/ stumped.. If anyone has ideas let me know. I have checked at night and there is nothing on. Changed rear to shocks so all non working systems have relays pulled.

I have 2 driveway orniments now...Fu&&cking POS they are...Starting to look like a junk yard...

Thanks all...Chris

You need to go have the truck tested at your local parts store, it's free. You have to have voltage between 13.6 and 14.4.
Our alternators are known to short and have heavy internal draws.
Was it the CCA rating on your new battery?

Hey Mike, After the first new battery went dead they checked and said alternator was out of spec...it's pep boys so i really didnt have that much confidence. My daughter bought the battery there and they put it in. She didnt call me. i took to a alternator shop as i thought i would have rebuilt and they told me and showed me it's putting out 14.1. I went back as the battery went dead again and they replaced with a much bigger one. CAA rating is 700 CA is 850.Went dead after 5 days..well not dead but starter ticks.. so its draining slowly

What brand of battery is it? I have seen shops get a bad batch, or they have sat there a while.

YOu say there is no load draw, the alt is good, then the battery is all that is left..

I thought the same.... bosche battery replaced twice in the last month. I was thinking the starter as thats all that changed. Maybe they screwed up the rebuild and it shorting and draining the battery. If you check at night when you touch the negitive to the post you get a faint blue spark that is the alarm draw but nothing running to get bigger spark. Totally stumped..like all the BS issues with these POS... I could spend over a grand tracing this problem down let alone any simple thing on this pile.

I did find a solution and i think everyone should check this one out i found.

I am ording one tomorrow.. Problem solved and my daughter off my back..

I am going to put one on mine also as it just sits in the driveway..

i am a idiot

Hey guys I am new here, I have been a Land Rover tech for 13yrs. well i read your problem and think you only have two roads to check, first I would check how many amps your starter is drawing at start up, cuz if its to much it will kill your battery slowly no matter how much output your alternator is putting out. if that is ok check the alarm it should only be active for 20min at the most. the normal a,p draw should be 30milamp if its more then that some thing is staying on, hope that helps
