8 will give a nice light. The ones I got are just too bright, they are awesome and I love em cause no one else on the block has em but like I said they hurt lol

I would assume LED wouldn't work because the Landrover dims the lights when they go off, so they are not just on or off, but go through a power cycle. I don't think LED's like that.

I ordered these LEDs from Amazon:

Philips 128584000KX1 XtremeVision 38mm 12V Festoon LED Interior/Exterior Retrofit Bulb : Amazon.com : Automotive

3x Philips 38mm LED festoon that shine with a bright warm white color. I turned the one above the review mirror so it doesn't shine directly down and blind me.

I installed LEDs over a year ago and mine dim down in steps just like the incandescent. LEDs don't care, but the lower power drain is great for the Multi-function unit (D1). And I can see to read a map, check my Depends (after Death Wobble), etc.

Mine actually do go through the dim down process as the light shuts off. Haven't noticed any issues as of yet... but, it's only been a couple of days.

I would think 8 or 10 LED's would be a good choice.

You can actually brighten and dim LED's by adding/removing resistors, so the dimming process should be natural.

I have have the stick bar style LEDs in the back two dome lights. The front dome I got from AutoZone. It has flat card with LEDs attached(i think 8)...then a separate fake bulb that clips into the original socket. These are common down the isle of parts store. I opted for the white, not the hoopie blue of course. They do dim and flicker when they go out.

LED lights have a thresh hold of about 2.5 volts (for blue its around 3 volts) and seeing how the all the rover lights operate around 12V and as it dims the LED lights will continue to dim up untill 2.5 volts where they will turn off

I have built a sound reactive LED driver that fills my floor boards and out side fenders with color changing sound reactive lighting.

Hey SuperSport, did you get your dome lights in? I'm curious how you like your lights.
