Default Emergency Immobilizaer Help

I know that an immobilizer has to be reset with a computer, but I need some other suggestions.

I sent a matched set BCU and ECU to another member (no charge so far) to try on an immobilized DII that a customer of his brought in for diagnostics. The customer couldn't pay or whatever, and the member ended up with the truck. So I sent him the ECU/BCU off of a parts truck I recently dismantled that should work. When I took it off, I first put the key at position two, then disconnected the battery. The truck was never on (and never will be) after then.

Fast forward to today when the member happily receives the box with the ECU/BCU, he hooks it up, and it is immobilized. He is a mechanic, but not on land rovers.

Is it possible that it is not immobilized? I HATE IMMOBILIZERS. I suggested removing battery cables, crossing them to drain capacitors (I know, old wives tale but I have heard that it works), then putting key in position two and reconnecting battery. No word on whether that has worked. Any other ideas?

Best,

Charlie V
