Default Engine Block

He everyone I just finished taking apart my motor to change the head gaskets. I am having the the heads checked for cracks and cleaned and resurfaced. My question is what is the best way to clean the blocks surface deck area. Also while dismantling the motor i notised that there is some plastic and small rubber lines either broken or not attached and i cant figure out where they attack or run to and i cant find and hose line diagrams in the RAVE. Any thoughts I will take some pics of the lines soon and post them incase that will help.

If they have a shepherd crook in the end (upside down J ) they are vents for axles, etc. Just keep clear.

As for removal of gunk use a strong solvent soaked on the individual pieces, and a plastic or wood scraper, it should not score the block. This is not a place for a belt sander.

There should have been two coolant lines going to the throtle body heater.

You can use carb cleaner.
Do not put grooves in the deck.
Absolutely NO sand paper.
I used a metal scraper - but very gingerly.
Use clean paper towels.
The deck must be absolutely clean for success.

Go thru these pictures and you can see how clean it must be
