Exclamation Engine Check Service light on!

My 2001 Disco has 45k mileage and this is the 1st time I am seeing Engine light come on.

Here is the history. I had an accident 2 months ago. Hit the right front, Truck was fixed , damaged the ABS sensor cable I connected through connectors but have not tested the cable

1. 3 Amigos are on - Pulled P1590 code
Truck runs great like it was before. So I decided to wait, do some research and learn more before I jump into.

2. This week truck had misfires, jerks a little. Checked and got P0300 and P0302
Reading (random misfires and cylinder #2). I am planning to replace Spark plug wires and plugs next week - they are in the mail.

Today engine was jerking more and more and Engine service light came on
I had similar issues with my Pathfinder few months ago and it was Mas Air Flow sensor, I replaced it and never had problems after.

So, what I was thinking yesterday are, let's replace the plugs and wires (original still on) and that may fix the problem

But today I am think MAF may be the issue as well.

Can anyone advice how to go by the troubleshoot this? will appreciate

Sayeed

Any other codes? The 300 and 302 should clear up with plugs and wires. MAF can be cleaned with a made for MAF cleaning spray, but there is also a chance you could damage it. They are $$. Don't spray it except when engine is cold after sitting overnight. Note that CEL may come on for some codes after the code appears on two drive cycles. Others come on right away.

A MAF will not cause misfires. Don't want to start guessing and throwing parts at it, you'll go broke and still have the same issue.
You need to get a good set of 8 mm silicone wires and plugs in it if you want to stop the misfire.
What are you going to do about the 3 amigos?

Mike,

I already ordered the 8mm Silicone and Champion Iridium (wanted to stay within the range of default for now). They should be here any day.

My plan is to replace both the plugs and wires after the Thanksgiving (Tons of family members coming for Thanksgiving for the 1st time from around the country!)

Test drive, read codes to see what's going on.

If problem still persist i will check and clean MAF and filter -and go from there. (unless you have other ideas)

As for 3 Amigos.
I am going to replace the right ABS sensor that I repaired after the accident. Should I replace the hub with the sensor? I have a local supplier who can give me used good parts.

All these pesky issues came after the accident - remember the car was in great condition only work was done the battery replacement and front break! That makes me wonder if the Body shop screwed up some harness on the right, something was loose and came off in the last few days of driving around.

You guys are the expert - I am just learning.I am a quick learner and hands on if I have the time and needed to be.

Thank you all!

Mike,

Quick question for you. There are 2 version of ABS Sensors available one original and the other with long wire and looks like that needs to be hardwired somewhere! What would be the best and painless way to go by?

Thanks

What ever you do stay away from the MAF and don't clean it unless we talk first.
Get the codes read if you still have any, we should talk.
As for the ABS sensors, yes, there is the original on that plugs into a wire harness inside the engine compartment and then there is the newer version with a longer lead wire that has to be run into the passenger compartment and attached to the Slabbs. Get the older version and use die-electric on the connections and you will be fine.
