Default Engine head reassembly

Hello,

I’m in the process of replacing my Disco 2 head gaskets and have been cleaning each part (push rods, rockers, etc…)

I am curious which parts are going to need to be lubed before first crank? What brand would be best? Should it be an oil bath? Should it just be a spray?

Any and all help is appreciated.

A bit of assembly grease on any moving parts so nothing is dry on first start. Valve tips, both ends of push rods, lifter base if you have the lifters out, etc.

Timing chain if you removed it, pour some oil over it. Rocker assembly, good coat of oil or oil bath so it gets between the rockers and the rocker shaft. If you have the rocker shaft apart, some assembly lube on the rocker shaft as you reassemble isnt a bad idea.

You don't want any moving parts that are dry.

And this should be 10w-40 semi synthetic?

Thanks for the response.

Oil can be used (synthetic or conventional)... but "assembly grease" or "engine assembly lube" is another option. The "cling factor" with assembly grease is, to my mind, a bit better.

I’m thinking to put assembly lube near all contact points, then after installing on heads and back on the block, pour the 10w-40 over it.
