Don't know. never tried. But I have run a 160 inline, It's too cold, keeps the engine at 155. A 180 starts to open at 170 and it keeps the engine in the 175 range. Has anyone used that 82* LR stat? and could they verify coolant temps?

your oil preasures are not low, it would be nice to know what they are at idle and 2k hot and cold but they do not jump out.
What does jump out is the 10-40, unless your in the desert that a thinner than discos like. You might want to try replacing it with Shell Rotella 15-40 desiel oil, they seem to like it.
I ran 10-40 for one day and dumped it, it sounded like the oil pan had marbles in it.
you might want to try a simple $25 oil change before going to much farther.

But a slipped liner and just plain old bearing wear are alway a possiblity, hell anything is a possiblity with an 03

There is also an 82degree (C) soft spring thermostat (Justin at Luky8) or the in-line thermostat mod, where you can run a stat to keep you at a little lower temps.

Has anyone considered a high quality retaining compound like the type loctite makes? I've had great success with this product in component bearings where bores were a bit o/s. It is spec.'d for high temps. Just a thought...I also have the tick!

Ive had knocks go away by running better oil filters, go for the original or mobil filter. Just saying because ive had this happen with a autozone 6 dollar oil filter.
Rottela and a good oil filter is where my money is. If thats not it the you spun a bearing on the crank.

Or the liner has done what seems to happen to most tickers and come loose. Naah, can't be that can it. Must be the filter. Or a bearing. Yes, that's it. All the stories of blocks on grills, rings marks in headgaskets, top hat liners, pinned liners, etc are just coincidence....
Wow

Wow
that festering sore on my forehead is probably just a mosquito bite and will go away. it looks better today don't you think?

i did marvel mystery oil, seafoam everywhere, lucas lubricant, rotella, big filter. i'm now changing to a different weight oil and I knew all along that it will be my camshaft/lifters needing replacement.

Wow

And yes its also coinincidence that these engines are picky about what oil and filter they run, nm its just my imagination, dont do a oil change, just rip it out and replace the motor, yep, these trucks dont require troubleshooting, we just replace the blocks, then we do it again, after another 60000 miles right?
Yes wow is right.
