Default I had similar issues....

I had the same mysterious knock from the bottom of the engine, and noisy lifters. Mike helped out a bunch with his advice over the phone. Never really got too deep into it, but on the advice of our Indi Land rover tech here in Dallas, and a LR TSB, I switched to 20-50 castrol with a little Lucas, and the engine seems a lot happier. Only a little noise when cold, and runs well once warmed up. (I know I'll take flack from the group for using Dino oil, but whatever works, I'm happy with).

My advice, Don't borrow trouble. I had an old Audi with a warped main bearing that rapped like a diesel. Gave it to a friend in New York who drove it another 50K miles around the country without incident....Good Luck.

So what do you do in the winter? Still run 20W-50? I think it gets too cold where I live (Kansas City). However, once I get the pressure tester rigged up, I'll know a lot more about my problem.

I'm assuming that if you don't include the stock oil pressure sensor in with an aftermarket gauge arrangement (i.e. use a t-block so the sensor stays plugged in), the dash light would stay illuminated at all times, right?
