Default engine oil pump

any suggestion on how i can check if my engine oil pump is working properly or at least if i have a correct distribution of oil
the reason i ask is because i had coolant in the oil and replaced the front cover gasket which took care of that
i put new oil and filter in it after i was done and ran the rig for about 15 min then dropped the oil and put a fresh batch of oil in it after running it for about 20 min and maybe driving 5 miles or so the oil is still very very clean
gets me a bit worried
thank you all very much

Aside from hooking up a mechanical oil pressure gauge and checking to see if you've got pressure I'm not sure there's anything else you can do. I've driven mine longer than that after an oil change and the oil was still nice and clean for a good while. Also from my experience with both of my D2's if you're low on oil at all or it's not getting good enough distribution you can tell by the noise, because my motor tends to get a bit louder.

If it's really bothering you though check your oil pressure. I know on the 03-04 there's an extra spot on the front cover you can screw in a gauge but I think on the 99-02 that is taken up my the oil cooler, there maybe another spot though.

Only way that can be done is to put in oil pressure gauge, and check oil pressure. Good oil pressure means oil pump and main bearings are in good shape. If oil pressure is low, it could mean either or both oil pump and main bearings are worn excessively.

If you are looking for "tricks," maybe you should go into the world of the magician; not be maintaining a Rover. With Rovers, and all vehicles, what is needed is good old fashioned labor, maintenance; test gauges and instruments; not "tricks."

If you don't get the correct smoke and mirrors it will never work.

I would suggest you get under yout truck, pull off the oil sender unit and install a pressure gauge
