Default Engine Operating Temperature

I drove my car for 40 minutes with some stop and go in 93 degree weather. OBD scanner reported that the engine temperature was 105 C in idle and 103 C once I got going again. (So a range of 217-221 F.) Is this okay? Any suggestions?

That's not deadly, but sorta high for my taste. Have you switched to a 180F thermostat? Replaced the fan clutch? There's more you can do but most consider these steps priority 1 and 2 for these engines. Especially the 4.6.

Sounds normal for a 195F thermostat.

Same-ish range mine ran at in similar weather before I got a 180° tstat. Highly recommend you get one.

The good news is it is operating as designed... The bad news as previously mentioned is the design was compromised by the need to meet regulatory demands.

Swapping out the thermostat, keeping your cooling system in 100% tip top condition, proper bleeding, flushing the heater core if you've had Dex Cool in your system recently... getting rid of the DexCool... And monitoring real time temps can all keep your engine and head gaskets living longer.

I checked the coolant reservoir, and it has orange fluid. I take it this is the Dex Cool? I should have the system flushed and put 50/50 green coolant?

Yes, Flush the system, you'll be glad you did. And while you are at it swap over to the black or grey 180 F Thermostat.

If you were running the A/C you might check that your auxiliary electric fan(s) are running. With that said it/they won't kick on till engine and ambient temps are up but in your original post conditions I imagine it/they should have been running. My aux fan was frozen when I took ownership, easy to replace.
I occasionally see 215F or so on a 90F day with A/C running and a 180F thermostat. I'm running new radiator, heater core and all fresh green antifreeze also.
It used to bother me but not anymore. I watch my Ultraguage and have an alarm if it hits 220F.

It doesn't matter what type of green coolant, just get the quality level you are comfortable with.
