Default Engine pinging

Hi all

My 99 D2 pings a little. Usually when not up to full operating temp. So I baby it until then. No codes ever. Running premium. What sensors could be causing this without throwing a code? I know it could be the knock sensor but could it be O2 sensors? And I do have the correct plugs. Also I don't believe there is any carbon buildup. Thoughts and Ideas please.

Put in premium from a different gas station.
put in octane boost.

If it only pings at warmup - you may actually be hearing the piston slap if you are up over 120,000 miles.

Don't worry about it.

you might want to check you knock sensors, if your running premium that should not be an issue

If a knock sensor is bad you would notice even worse gas mileage along with pinging.

It is definitely pinging! Also I have been having this problem for quite some time. Many different gas stations. Engine was rebuilt at 87k with top hat liners. Currently I have 113k.

So there are 2 knock sensors. I will probably just replace them.

I don't know how many there are but mine failed because the wire was pinched. The sensor was good, had to replace the entire wire in the harness.

It is a shielded wire so just resoldering or using butt splice connectors does not work.
