Nice! Start to finish, roughly how long did it take you to get the set pulled out of curiosity?

Going to start tearing it down over the holiday break.

Yep - going to see if I can just have the scored up liner replaced. Problem is, I had all the cylinders honed to fit Grade B 4.0 pistons. Now I cannot find a replacement Grade B piston. Maybe I’ll have all liners replaced and start anew with 4.6 pistons.

I thought 4.0 and 4.6 pistons were same diameter(94mm)? maybe different piston CR's and rods...and the stoked crank that's different.....so you could build this into a 4.6.....

and as Extinct asked, "what happened'?

They are. Problem is I had Grade B pistons - slightly larger in diameter.

Not sure yet. Sleeve 6 has some scoring and the HG was blown at the top - blowing into valley. The HG was missing a small piece of the steel ring.

I’ll start a new post and include some pics.

hmmmm....sounds like the piston was too big...or a ring cracked. did you measure the new bores in the top hats before install? strange about the head gasket....curious as to which head gasket you used...

also, was the damaged head gasket at the same location as the scored cylinder? maybe the piece went into the cylinder...
