Default Engine shudders

Hello,

Weird thing is happening to my disco. Whenever I'm stopping on an intersection the engine will start shuddering when in drive. When I switch to neutral it stops. I'm guessing it might have something to do with vacuum lines, but any insight would be welcome.

Thanks

sounds like your transmission or transfer case issue

Hmm, the transmission's been doing some weird things lately - i should look into that. Thanks for the hint.

Yep, sounds like a torque converter going bad. Does it do it accelerating away from a light?

Default Engine mounts?

I had a similar issue, discovered that both my engine mounts and the right transmission mounts were sheered. I replaced them and that problem stopped. I still get some shudder at highway speeds when maintaining constant speed downhill though . Trying to work that out.

The problem with "my" shudder is that it's not constant. It happens every say 30 seconds - just one strong vibration and the rpms drop, so the torque converter scenario seems like it could be the culprit.

I wish you luck in finding the cause. Mine was shuddering at a stop and wanting to pull forward until I would put it in neutral. I saw in another thread a similar issue caused by the engine mounts and sure enough, I saw cracks in the rubber on mine and they were completely sheered.
Cheers!
