Default Engine swap

I Finally located a solid long block for my 99 Disco II. found one with 85K, looks clean... heard it run before I pulled it, now I need to pull the old mess out and stuff this in. If I pull the hood, what do I need to take off the motor before it comes out nice and easy. Obvious is exhaust, rad, oil coolers, ...but what can I leave on the motor without tearing the truck up....or giving me fits with the cherry picker?? Can I leave intake, alt, water pump?? exh headers????
Give me some pointers

James

Do you have a copy of rave? If not, check landroverresource.com. Just follow the procedure listed in there and you will be fine. I would imagine most, if not all of the items mounted on the front cover will be able to be left attached. I have not completed the procedure--yet--but when I do anything I follow rave to a "T". Good luck...

Another thought, you may want to disconnect the ac compressor and secure it in the bay to avoid losing refrigerant. That would save a step or two and it shouldn't get in the way.

Thats a loaded question. Ask 5 techs that and you will get 5 different answers. On the D2s, I build the motor in the truck. I start by stripping the intake and heads. With all that mess out of the way, the upper bell housing bolts and motor mount bolts are easier to access. This route takes longer, but I don't get in a jerk when swapping engines. Good luck

When I pulled my damaged engine from mine and installed a used long block (complete all the way to plenum), I just printed the RAVE engine R&R and followed step by step.

This is good advice...if you are replacing the engine you might as well do it right...It's out now so make sure you are right. Rebuild top end, head gaskets, oil pump chain, gears check everything. Replace, radiator, all hoses, water pump and thermostat. That way you can sleep. If anyone tells you you don't need to , there a f$cking lying or they have nothing better to do in their life than work on their pile or have an excuse to post about ticking .....
