Engine Swap:Thinking about Buick 3800 or 4.3 Chevy
heres some food for thought, chevy 5.3 (essentially a ls1) can be had for fairly cheap from the jy because of its widespread use in many gm vehicles. usually in the $500-$800 range. they can also be converted to carb and bolt up to th350 essentially not needing any electronics to drive. however you would still have to figure out how to keep the becm working.

I think of it is done the best route is a Chevy nv4500 transmission with the right output for the adapter to the transfer case that I see on the Internet occasionally.
