Tell me about it.

That's actually a great idea. I will look into that. We can probably source a bolt from Fastenal or hell even a box store.

We talking about the valve cover bolts right? I use a 5/16 12 point...perfect fit. You may have one or have more luck finding one. You got a neighbor or friend with tools?

Yeah, those 1/4" drive deep 12 pointers are bitch to find. I tried several Sears hardware stores, Advanced Auto, True Value, Ace Hardware, my neighbor (who is a licensed mechanic, his buddies shop down the street, Jesus and Big Bird. No one had it.

I ordered one online. I'm sure I'll find the one I misplaced the day the new one shows up at the door.

I'm kinda tired right now and probably missing something but, why do you need a deep?

Never thought of using a shallow socket. Still. Noone had the 12pointer in a 1/4" drive.

I highly considering drilling them and using my "easy out" tool. I'm sure they're sittin loose in there anyway.

oh ok. I just thought it may be easier to find in 5/16. I haven't had to shop for one but, If I happen run across any I guess better grab a handful.

Lol, you can at least take the outer bolts off with a combination wrench to make *some* progress...

I was thinking since you had it down that far and as loose as those things usually are you could probably grab them with needle nose.... assuming you have the upper intake off already.
I guess if your socket is coming tomorrow no need.

230k on 2001 Disco 2 SD. Apparently a small leak has developed in the head gaskets. Unsure as what to do. My worry is that I change the HGs and then the block fails.
