Fastest speed...

i was driving across montana on I-80.
have you ever driven across montana?! holy sh*t it takes forever - even at 110mph.
as to the legal question : this took place a few years ago when they were not enforcing the speed limit during day light hours.
i did it one time just to see what my rover would do. never again...
knowing my baby CAN do it makes me feel a little better when those annoying little twerps in the rice burning hondas with NOs stickers fly by me on I-5 however.
and yes it shook like the carpathia until 100 mph then it kinda smoothed out - like a big old boat getting on plane. sorta...

i have drivin in montana years back when i was buying my 748r. at the time i owned a little 4cyl S10. with the gate dropped and the bike in the bed i managed all of about 95.
luckily i only had to go to Missoula. so from seattle to Missoula and back was about 13hours saving time by speeding in montana.

Very interesting thread. The only thing I can contribute to it is what I do before a high speed run. It does not matter if it is in my DIIs or M5 or MB 6.3L
I inflate my tires to 90% of MAX pressure listed on the tire sidewall and at a minimum I make sure I have Z / V-rated tires in good shape.
An out of control Disco due to a tire blowout happening at 120 MPH will be a scary scene, with plastic and aluminum panels strewn over the highway for a 1/2 a mile.
The short wheel base does not help with stability either.
Be safe.

My first car, my '88 Saab 900 Turbo topped out at about 125.
My second car, my 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1L v6 topped out about 125.
My third car, my 1994 Ford F-150 4.9L I6 topped out at about 90.
My current car, my 1994 Pontiac GP will hit 110 with out breaking a sweat, but I haven't had it above that. Some little ****stain in an Acura tried to smurf me in the XJ one night...I got behind him and picked up the draft...I found that 111mph governor really quick. Scared him good though.
I had a two door Olds Alero with the 3.4L V6 for a little while. Fast-*** little car, but was electronically limited at 110. I bet it could have easily used all of that 140mph speedometer though.
