I was under the impression that there is a filtering device in the gas tank attached to the fuel pump. Is this not correct?

Yes there is a "sock" filter attached to the bottom of the fuel pump.
It is non servicable.
If it were clogged the truck would not run.
A dirty fuel filter will have no effect on MPG.

No problem, it can be confusing keeping the two trucks seperate.
A DI has a replaceable fuel filter, a DII does not.

Was truly unaware of the things you brought up. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I usually used 91 or 93 octane but was unaware of the specifics you documented.

Thanks again for the insight.

It was just the regular stuff, it was on sale at Autozone for 5 bucks. I figured it couldn't hurt so I gave it a try. Danny Lee, don't know if you were thanking me but if you were thanks.

Well back to normal fuel consumption, 300 + miles to one tank is possible with these trucks!

Default Guess I need to change some things

So I am new to LR's and I was not aware of most of the things mentioned on this thread. This is great info. So I will start running Shell 91 or higher through my 96. I have been getting crap for mpg (around 11-12). Course I have only had it for about 2 months now so it probably needs a major tune up. What is the deal with the Seafoam? I had a 2001 F-350 with a 7.3L diesel prior to this and I was told by a reliable diesel mechanic that Seafoam has a high alcohol content add would dry out my seals. Is this not the case with the gas engines? How many times should I run the Seafoam through to clean things up? Also is there anything else I need to run through her to clean her up good? Thanks for your help guys.
