There's an RR logo on many of them engines and that's a British motor company.

well its the only truck i can work on ...i dont need a new learning curve at this point...It's a roll of the dice on any car for that matter...

Why did i buy one is like asking why did i get married....i love my wife and will do about anything to make her happy but there are time's i just want to strangle her...

true, but the RR went 200,000 miles with only a headgasket job and withstood several overheats over the years...it still runs with a cracked head.... and it's a 1995....my discovery's are 2000 and 2004 that's 5 to 10 years as the tolerances went from bad to worse to complete Sh$t.... i am new to the discovey and i like the truck in general... but the power plant is the biggest fu$cking pile of Sh$t i have ever seen as most die hard LR people know this as well as LR as they discontinued it.. i rolled the dice and lost...no biggie...thats life...

That is a good price for that engine. I would check diesel engine swap laws before buying anything.

As long as his state does not do emissions testing then anything goes.
And even if they did, all he would have to do is register it in a state that does not do testing, like MI.

I live in florida ...that is the third world or as close to being a third world country as possible...I am 25 miles from miami and it's as close to a barrio as you will ever get...

As always ...Spike is correct... and if i did have a problem i would come rent a room from spike and register it there.... of course i wouldnt live there.... im not a MI kind of guy....I still think Spikes the bro though ....


You can all admit it... looking at that tdi in the engine bay is making you all crazy.... imagine not having to look at the temp gauge and watching your chassie fall apart around your engine...
