Hello to all; I just picked up my first disco. last week after a year of looking/research and so far I am very gald that I bought it. Its a 99 DII SE7 with 94k miles. The only issue with the trcuk is the Hi/Lo shifter will not move into Lo range. (After reading some other posts, I think I have a pretty good idea of how to fix it)

The only other question I had was regarding the head gaskets. Is there a way to tell if the gaskets have been replaced just by looking at them? Thanks for the help.

I also have a 99, you will enjoy it.
As for the shifter, your shift solenoid, located on top of the tranny has failed. You can either replace it with a new one or do as I had done and just remove it. It is only a saftey device so you don't shift from high to low while the tranny is in gear.
Now, what are you going to do about your CDL, if you get some linkage to reengage it, you'll have 50% more traction, instantly.

when your solenoid went out, how long did it take to drop the t-case to access the solenoid? are there any special tools required? Also just looked under and saw no up graded u-joints. i know that that will be first to replace.

If it were the t/case, it doesn't need to be dropped.
Just to make sure, will it go into high lock, if not it will be your linkage.
