I recently had some magnecor spark plug wires installed on my 2004 disco II. Everything's working fine but I have a question concerning the fit. I noticed that the wires on the drivers side are touching the top of the valve cover near the engine compartment. I can't recall if the OEM wires fit that way. Anyway, is there any problem with the spark plug wires contacting the top of the valve cover???

 

check and see if it popped out of it's grommet, should be ok though..valve covers don't get that hot, if it's touching the exhaust manifold then you'll have a problem.

 

If they continue to rub on the sharp edges of the valve covers they will short out youir spark.
Just turn the boots until they are not touching anything.
They will twist on the plug, just grab them low and gently turn.

 

I had that problem only on the passenger side. The valve covers don't get that hot, but I still didn't want anything to rub the wires at all. I seemed to have plenty of wire looms so I made sure to put a loom at that exact spot so that although the loom was touching the valve cover, the wires were not.
