Flashing D/P and other Electrical Problems...
99 DII 170K
Went to start up yesterday, and noticed the P&D flashing just below the odometer. Then put on blinker, and no blinker, no hazards. Drove home and could not lock the door with keys as usual. This morning, after starting, could not shift out of Park, had to turn key to move shifter and start from Neutral.
Would there be one fuse, or wire that is the root cause. I have read about possible corrosion of IDM??? under steering wheel, but could not get the foam block off to get to the wires to disconnect it from the back. Not sure what to do next.
Here's the complete list...
Rear Wipers - N
Int Front Wipers - N
Hazards - N
Blinkers - N
Fog Lights - N
Door Lock button - N
Unlock w/key - N
Rear Windows - N
Brake Lights - Y
Fuel Door - Y
Cig Lighter - Y
Front/Rear Htd windows - N

A lot of what you are saying doesn't make sense to me.
"P&D flashing just below the odometer."
Which one was flashing? Or was it alternating between the two letters?
"could not shift out of Park, had to turn key to move shifter and start from Neutral."
The truck won't shift out of park with out being on (key turned, not necessarily started) and your foot on the brake.
Have you tested your battery voltage? It sounds like the BCU (and likely other electronics) are pitching a fit. Low voltage will absolutely do that.
