Default Freeing up Secondary Air Pipe

Any tricks to getting the nut holding the secondary air injection pipe to the head to release? A mechanic who worked on it a few months ago cracked the pipe and did a temporary fix which has now failed so I need to get it off the engine tonight so I can braze up the crack he caused. It's cracked along the bottom so fixing it in place isn't really an option.

I've tried putting a wrench on the fitting coming from the head and another on the large nut, I've tried to move it both directions, they're just don't seem to want to move at all and RAVE has the ever enlightening directions of "remove nut holding pipe to head fitting".

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, had to give up. The other side wouldn't let go even when I managed to get one to turn. Did external wrap patches for now, hopefully they hold until I'm able to ditch the SAI entirely. Those pipes aren't cheap.

I think it was an 18mm open wrench that you put on the square head of the adapter. Use that to hold it straight, and then use another wrench to loosen the nut.

I had this same issue and found a crows foot on the SAI tube (threaded into the head) held it put while loosing the SAI nut.

See this thread for an image of the crows foot and the process used.

Hit the nut with an impact chisel and loosen it up. Then back it off. We do it all the time in the dealer and it works perfect.
