Freeze Plug Problems
So to make a long story short, I got my engine rebuilt and I was out of town and had forgotten to order freeze plugs. Got my dad to go buy some locally to take to the shop and the ones he picked up were super thin but I didn’t know until I picked the engine up. So after getting everything put together I had leaks on like 4 out of 6 of the plugs along the side but no leaks out the back. I didn’t want to pull the engine again so I dropped the exhaust and motor mounts and we replaced them ourselves and seemed to have a good seal with thicker plugs. Unfortunately after running the truck for a while I’ve still got 2 plugs leaking and I’m worried more will follow. I’m not sure if the holes on the block are messed up or if our gasket started to dry before we had the plug fully in but what would y’all do? I’m not really wanting to pull the block just to get the freeze plugs knocked in, but I’m sure that’s the best bet. I’ve seen some on here have had success with expanding rubber plugs but have only ever used the brass and steel type. Any help is appreciated.
