Default Front Driveshaft

I was under the disco lubing my ds u-joints and slip joint and I realized the rubber boot was torn all to hell and grease was sprayed all over the front cross member. It appears that the ds hits the cross member at full droop and the rubber boot gets cut in the process. Is there a way that I can replace this boot and is it even worth it? I'm trying to avoid the 3-400 dollar expense of an aftermarket ds to replace it, but a woods double double cardon shaft would be nice...

Also, is Rovertym the only company out there that makes the cross member spacers? Has anyone just modified the cross member to drop further in the center? How about running without it?

Rondo,
What year is your truck, do you have a lift?

'03, and lifted ~4". As far as I can tell I've rarely if ever gotten the ds to contact the cross member while driving off road. I have gotten it to contact heavily while lifting the truck by the sliders and having the front susp go full droop; however there is far more damage to the rubber boot than two full droop lifts could do.

I never measured the Rover stock... whats a good ballpark measurement for ground to fender well for a stock truck? That would help me nail down what my actual lift is. Big enough!

With a true 4" lift you will probably need to replace the front drive shaft going to a shaft with 2 constant velocity joints.
What did you use to get 4"s out out your truck?

The lift is probably a topic for another thread; I'd rather stay on topic. My ds angle isn't too large to warrant the extra u-joint up front quite yet and have experienced no ill effects stemming from the lift after ~10k miles other than this torn boot.

Is it replaceable?

OK,
I am then wondering what year Disco you have?
I am trying to figure out what rubber boot you are talking about?

It is a 2003.

On the slip joint of the ds there is a rubber boot which keeps the grease in and the dirt out.
