Default front driveshaft info

I have a 01 disco II I took it to the land rover dealership because it was vibrating while I was driving. The mechanic said my front driveshaft was going out and the cause of the problem was while I’m driving the water from the a\c discharges and hits the front driveshaft and eventually will cause damage and need to be replaced. Just some info sorry if this has already been talked about.

Well the mechanic was part righ and part full of S--T.
Disco 2's are know to have front drive line problems, not because of A/C water dripping on them but because Rover did not put any grease fittings on the 2 u-joints in the constant velocity joint , which is the one that hooks to the t/case.
So stop driving it, pull out the front drive shaft and have it rebuilt , installing new u-joints in the housing and you will be set.
It will cost you about$150 which will be alot less then what Rover quoted you. By the way, if you let it go and it breaks, which it will, you will also be replacing the transmission and or t/case at the same time so do it ASAP.
Any questions, get back to me.
Mike

Be careful with Who ever you take it to, make sure they install HD quality u-joints with grease fittings and make sure they have done constant velocity joints before.
Are you going to take it off and take it to them< it will save you some money?
Plan on the u-joints running about $30 or so a piece and around $100 in labor.

I’m going to take it off myself. I always try to save as much on labor cost as I can.
