Front Driveshaft Rebuild Complete, double guessing my work.
So I just rebuilt my front driveshaft using Neapco 1-0005 greasable U-joints and Neapco 7-0081NG center ball kit (What a bear to put back together). The U-joint connecting the double cardon to the transfer case flange was the most difficult, particularly the trunions that go into the transfer case flange. The last and final C-clip did not want to fit in. It finally did, however, I can tell that there is quite a bit of pressure on the c-clips on both sides. Now while I don't think that the u-joints are binding, it definitly moves more easily in one direction than the other. Before I install my driveshaft i was wondering- Is it typical for the u-joint connections to occasionally be stiffer on one side than the other? I think the needle bearings are all in place (I took it apart to make sure). If a needle bearing fell in to the bottom of the trunion cap, would the C-clips fit at all? Maybe I am just paranoid, but it is my first time installing U-joints. Thanks
I greased it up pretty well. its just that it moves side to side one direction under its own wieght and in order to move it side to side in the other direction, I have to push it with my hand.
