I'm not sure how a bad hub = losing the truck. I've replaced 2 of my hubs and did not consider it particularly difficult.

I have the manual on cd. I haven't checked it out yet, but do they give a pretty detailed description for changing them out? Any special tools needed?

You need a big breaker bar and a big torque wrench and a 3 legged puller.

I do have the three amigos on but they have been on for a while. I am just too cheap to pay the dealership to diagnose the problem. I had the modulator replaced and they were off for 6 months and then came back. Not sure if it is just a bad sensor.

Again, thanks for all the help. This forum has saved me so much money with my Disco.

if you are interested in joining our club we have an amigo we rent out to members. see the link in my sig. cheers

how about putting the car on jack stands and checking the hubs for play.

if they are bad they will have lots of up and down and side to side play. you will see them move separately from everything else.
X2 Easy to check for yourself, and a good bet that is why the ABS fault is on.

I think he meant wheel bearings go bad = grinding, heat build up, and eventually a locked up hub leading to a possibly very bad outcome.

I know what he meant. He was busting a newbie's ***** which seems to be a hobby for some here. It's not that kind of forum.

Keep in mind though that he is a certified LR tech and works at a dealership.
