Default Front & Rear HVAC vents - 1 question & 1 issue

Ok, my 01 D2 (that I just recently bought) has great heat when the fan is set to blow at full speed (on highest setting) but the incremental blower settings don't do anything. So, I think there are 5 or 6 levels (dashes on the display when you hit the fan button) to turn it up and down, but I only have air/heat blowing (hard) through the front vents when it's on full blast. All of the lesser settings barely have anything coming out, and do not change the velocity of the air coming out until it's up all the way. Thoughts?

Also, and maybe a dumb question, but do the ceiling vents (for back seat riders) blow heat, or only a/c? In mine, it only blows air (cold) when I click the a/c button on the ceiling control...otherwise it does not blow anything at all. I figured maybe it's just "rear a/c" for the summer time, but figured that would be a waste of a rear air system if heat wasn't available as well. Thank you for your replies in advance.

The resistor that controls the fan speed may be bad, do a search on the forum for this it is pretty common.

The rear a/c is just that, rear a/c.
Yes it is a stupid set up but thats the way it is.

Thanks for the info - I do see a couple of old posts that deal with this - hopefully it's easy to get to as I'm going to order the part on Monday.

Bummer on the rear air....heat would be helpful at this time of year!

Thanks again -
