Default Fuel sending unit on fritz

Edit
I filled tank & fuel gage isn’t reading fuel level accurately

as I’m reading about which part and access - I’m wondering if anyone has gone thru this or if I’m going to risk damage to my fuel pump in doing so.

Nearly 200k on og fuel pump -
better to count the miles or easy enough to swap sending unit in ones experience?

Thanks for any input

Easy to swap fuel pump. Access hatch in rear. You'll have to remove the carpet to get to it. Careful to not break fuel lines. Old plastic can be brittle. Takes a few hours.
