Default Full of questions....hallow bar next/close to radiator

Had to remove my front bumper today, and the hollow bar that is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches diameter and is approx. 30 inches long is/was rusted to all hell. What is it? And where can I get a new one? I've looked all over the rave manual and online and keep coming up with nothing.

It is what the lower bumper valance used to bolt to until all of the screw holes rusted out. I guess by a long shot you could consider it some kind of subframe joining both frame rails. I removed and tossed mine years ago.

I've got one like new that I'd sell, no rust. That said, it's useless and only holds the bottom of the bumper. My bumper is fine without it.

Yep my 02 I recently bought had a HORRIBLE home built bumper on it. When I went to install an OEM one I got my hands on that cross bar wasn't included. Most of the D2's I've seen with those still intact are just falling apart when you breathe on them. My bumper is fine without it. I think it was added to help protect the steering components during a wreck, but I don't see how it's going to help vs do more harm myself.

It's called an 'underrun bar and rarely available online but mainly only main stealerships. The part number is something like A?? 100000. about $125 of cheapo metal tube which I replaced with a 40/50mm HD galvanised fabricated tube and end plates ................... won't rot away again. It's supposed to hold up the bumper valance and protect the underside of the truck.
