Default Fuse 15 keeps blowing after front windscreen install

Got the D2 back from the shop after getting a new heated windsreen installed and noticed my heated seats, cigarette lighter and rear view mirror compass wasnt working.

checked the 30A fuse under the drivers side dash and it was toasted. Replaced it and it immediately blew. Turned off the rover and replaced the fuse again. Switched on the ignition and it once again, immediately blew

im wondering if this is a grouding issue.

anyone have a thought?

obviously ill ask the shop if i cant quickly fix it myself over the holiday

Fuse #15, drivers compartment shares no electrical paths with the heated windshield. I've searched the RAVE and can't come up with any info on the mirror compass. However, it does seem plausible that this would be an area of concern, since it's the closest item to the windshield. Maybe, while cutting glue for windshield they got into wiring harness or something, weirder things have happen. Actually, fuse #15 should be a 20 amp, not 30. Maybe, someone was having issues with this before and bumped up the fuse size? Can't imagine the heated seats being a factor, unless activated. Cigarette lighter would most likely be out of the equation also, unless activated. I guess my first area of diagnostics would be looking at the mirror wiring harness or damage to the mirror itself.

Yeah that was my guess too. I’ll look at the mirror harness. It looks kinda weird too. The plastic piece that sandwiches together around the wires isn’t connected all the way.

Thanks!

Btw- I typed 30 but meant 20. I mispoke.

Short to ground, before the load, will always blow the fuse once powered.

You have a wiring problem somewhere. Start from the fuse box and work your way back to the components.

Or see which power line is getting grounded before the component.

I finally got around to fixing this issue.
Took off the visor surround and the two purple wires going to the dome light were fried. The sheath around them were frayed like someone pulled on the harness too hard and scraped them over the metal back of the light fixture. The two green wires going to the home link were the same way.

Replaced all of those and stuck a new fuse in. Bingo! Heated seats, vanity lights, compass, exit are all back.
Still no dome lights with open doors but that's another day.

Thanks for the suggestions.
