Default Rear Heated Windscreen Fuse Blowing

2001 DII SE

The heated rear windscreen fuse (#8 in the box inside) keeps blowing when I push the activation button. I have a crack in the passenger side front windscreen and I thought that might be the problem because the wiring diagram looks like the rear and the passenger front heating elements are connected on that fuse. However, I disconnected both sides of the front windscreen leads inside the engine compartment and the fuse is still blowing. Any suggestions of where to start?

Fuse 8 (30 amp) on the inside box is for the rear screen - and heat elements in outside mirrors. Outside mirrors can have that element dropped off at header connectors under kick panel.

Fuse 8 (40 amp) in the underhood box is for the heated front screen - right hand.

Make sure no aftermarket electrical (radio, alarm, etc) has not tapped that circuit for power. If tapped, the fuse will blow. Lazy stereo installers like to tap into rarely used circuits rather than run the appropriate wiring.
