Default Gas mileage for the 4.0L, Disco II

Yes, I did a search & didn't find what i need.

If there is a thread, please post a link to it.

Looking to hear from owners their actual gas milage from their 4.0L Disco II's.

I just sold both my '92RRC & '95 Disco I as they both only got 10 mpg

I would like a '03-'04 with the 4.6L but can't find one I can afford, so now looking at a 4.0L Disco II.

Problem now is that for the interm, I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0L 6 cyl & get 22 mpg.
Now I don't know if I want to go back to a Disco as the Jeep is pretty similar in drivetrain & options, & everything works.

You won't be getting 22 with the Disco except down hill.

The mileage was terrible when it rolled off the line. You can guess what it would be 14 years later. I think I average around 15 I guess though I live in the flat lands of NJ.

People don't buy discos for the fuel efficiency.

With mine I averaged 14 and up to 15.5 if mostly highway. My 4.6 averages 15. Always run premium and keep them tuned nicely. I have a heavy foot also and have plenty of hills.

A lot depends on how well you service it.
With proper tire pressure. your not driving it like a sports car.
I lice at 6000 feet here in Colorado, as long as I stay at 70 MPH or lower I get 18.25 on the highway and 14.0 in town.
By the way, if you do finf a 4.6, the mileage will be the same.

DiscoMike, wow! I too, am up at 5000 feet here in Calgary and have followed your 100K Mile Maintenance protocol. What is your tyre pressure, front and back? Cheers
