Look at it this way. If you want, you can have a really fun 15 miles outta that 1 gallon of gas. If you prefer, "beam me up Scotty" go boring with awesome mpg.

It's not just the fun of driving (including off-roading), which, as Dusty1 posted, is what's really important anyway . But, with a Discovery, just about everything (including up to 7 passengers in my truck) fits inside it easily. So, when owners compare Discovery mpg to that of other vehicles, they should consider that you often only need to make 1 trip...not multiple trips for the same purpose. Discovery's not the perfect daily ride for everyone, but it is an amazing vehicle for certain situations, like college dorm move-in's and out's, helping people in flooded zones (hauling gas & generators), and snowy/icy weather conditions. Mpg is relative to the specific use of a vehicle. Discovery is also great for car pools and HOV lanes. Just my opinion...(or my justification for high gas expense ). I couldn't have done any of it without Discovery .

Mike,

Is it really true that mpg of a 4.0 and 4.6 is the same? I have never heard this before. If so, please explain. Thank you!
