Ok Mike , I shoud have noted that the proper parts ordering system requests the axel number, and I also know that nothing ever really changed untill the D2s and p38 were introduced .

So where are you ordering these parts from that you need axle numbers, Rover?
When you order on line thru any of the many suppliers, they only offer one part number for replacement axles or diffs same for if you are stepping up to HD axles and lockers.

Disco Mike , Bklhal was asked by someone what the axel number was , OEM parts ordering systems do request this information and if nobody needs it to get correctaftermarket parts who cares ?,someone wanted that information for some silly reason, and any question is a good question to avoid cofusion.
